Algerian Football Federation (FAF) on Wednesday announced that it was waiting for a nod from the Ministry of Youth and Sports in order to resume football activities in the country.
The ministry had said that in order for sporting activities to be allowed back, the federation must put in place hygiene and safety measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
In a statement, the federation said that they are working on measures that will be certified by the ministry so as to allow the resumption of the leagues.
"We are working on resuming football activities and the safety and hygiene measures that will validated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports," the statement read.
According to the president of the FAF, Kheireddine Zetchi, the rest of the 2019-2020 season (Leagues 1 and 2) could be played over an 8-week period.
