Struggling Championship side Middlesbrough has sacked head coach Jonathan Woodgate and immediately appointed former Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock in his place.
Boro is placed 21st in the championship after 38 round of games and is doing all they can to avoid relegation with the team tied on points with relegation placed Hull City.
A statement on Tuesday from the club noted: “Middlesbrough Football Club can confirm that head coach Jonathan Woodgate has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
“Jonathan was relieved of his role on Tuesday morning and will be replaced by the experienced Neil Warnock.
Warnock’s first task will be to lead the team against Stoke City on Saturday with the team having to tackle Hull City, QPR, Millwall and Bristol City in their next five league fixtures.
