Football Kenya Federation Presidential aspirant Sammy Sholei has called for the protection of the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT).
In a presser sent to newsrooms, Sholei claims that there is a plot by the current FKF office bearers to curtail the operation of the SDT and its chair John Ohaga after they filed cases in three regional courts to block its operations.
FKF through its president Nick Mwendwa has previously accused Ohaga of siding with some of his opponents after the cancellation of the election with a new date yet to be agreed upon.
“It’s unfortunate that the current FKF office has “anonymously” filed cases in three regional courts to block the much-celebrated Sports Dispute Tribunal from discussing and or handling any football matters. The relatively new SDT has been a trusted breath of fresh air to all sports stakeholders. It has been an avenue for justice in sports disputes and a key pillar for hope in the entire industry.
“To frustrate aspirants by dodging free and fair elections through numerous litigation action outside the SDT is a gross violation of court process and must be condemned by all Kenyans,” part of Sholei’s presser noted.
Sholei further called the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Arts and Culture Madam Amina Mohammed to exercise her powers and implement the sports act with immediate effect and constitute a normalization committee to clean up the what he termed as the mess that is FKF.
