Al Masry player Mahmoud Hamad was on Tuesday arrested for attempted murder charges.
The 26-year-old has been remanded for four days pending investigations into charges for attempting to murder Badran Magdy, a wrestling coach.
Egyptian media reports that the footballer stabbed Magdy following a brawl in Ismailia before being apprehended by the police.
The versatile player started his career at Ismaily in 2013 before to El Gaish and Arab Contracts. He joined Al Masry in 2018 and has made 26 appearances for the club.
However, his most notable achievement came away from the club football as he was part of the Egypt U20 national team that lifted the 2013 AFCON in Algeria.
