Laliga side Valencia CF has confirmed the appointment of Voro González as their new head coach hours after parting ways with Albert Celades.
Valencia had announced on Monday that they had informed Celades of their decision and thanked him for the services he offered at the club.
The sacking of the coach saw the club’s director of football César Sánchez hand in his resignation from but the club looked unperturbed by indicating that Gonzalez will be in charge of the team from Wednesday.
In a statement, Valencia said that the new man will be in charge of the team until the end of the season after which they’ll make a decision on the position.
“From Tuesday, June 30th, Voro González will be in charge of the first-team coaching staff until the end of the season. It is a further demonstration of his commitment to helping Valencia CF,” the statement noted.
It is the sixth time Gonzalez will be leading the team with his first stint coming in the 2007/08 season, for the final five games where he helped the team in avoiding relegation.
