Manchester City midfielder Iklay Gundogan has sent a warning to league champions Liverpool after claiming that they are already plotting at how they’ll reclaim their crown.
City will give a guard of honour at the Etihad when they host the Jurgen Klopp side on Thursday but according to the German their opponents have had a good season but they are going to make everything better next season.
“It is the way it is. It is something you have to accept. Liverpool had a great season so congratulations to them on winning the league. They deserved it, there are no doubts about that, and we are going to try and make it better again next season," said Gundogan.
"We know what we have done wrong, we know our mistakes and where we have dropped points unnecessarily so it is up to us to make it better next season.
"There is still a lot to play for this season, we have still got a few Premier League games left and then we have the FA Cup semi-final, the Champions League, so it can still be a great season and that is what we want to achieve," Gundogan is quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
In their title defending season, City has lost eight of 31 Premier League games and surrendered the title with a defeat at Chelsea a week ago.
They could, however, win the FA Cup and the Champions League it resumes in August.
