Antonio Conte's men seemed to be in control after Romeul Lukaku gave them the lead on the 22nd minute, but they were meant to pay late on as they conceded on the 74th and 80th minutes to end on the losing side.
In a post-match interview with club website, de Vrij said that they were disappointed with how they failed to kill the game.
“They came back when they were down to ten, and we’re very disappointed that we didn’t kill the game off earlier and bring home three points.”
The first half was really positive for Inter, but then things all fell apart: “In the first half, Bologna only had one chance right at the end, but Samir did brilliantly to save us. But we’ve got to improve, especially defensively. There’s a long way to go for us because we often fail to close matches out when we take the lead.
“A lot of things were missing from that performance. We were in front and had a man advantage, but we didn’t manage to get the win. We’re disappointed. All we can do now is try to keep going and think about the upcoming matches. Of course, the loss today hurts, but the only thing we can do now is think about the next game.”
