Serie A Roundup: Sloppy Juve lose two-goal lead to settle for a draw, Lazio's unhappy run continues

Juventus' march to the Serie A title was once again halted as they were forced to settle for a 3-3 draw away to Sassuolo on Wednesday night.

Maurizio Sarri's men could have opened a nine-point gap at the top, but that could now be reduced to six if Inter Milan win their match on Thursday night.

Juve took the lead on the sixth minute when Danilo powered in a bullet from the edge of the box after a corner ball fell to him.

Gonzalo Higuain made it two six minutes later, latching on to a magnificent ball from Miralem Pjanic to put the defending champions in total control.

The hosts however put up a spirited fight and pulled one back through Filip Djuricic in the 29th minute, sending a signal to the visitors.

It was all square six minutes into the second half when Domenico Berardi curled a beautiful free kick in at the near post, before taking the lead in spectacular fashion three minutes later through Francesco Caputo.

Alex Sandro though came to Juventus' rescue on the 64th minute with a powerful header to take a point back home.

The win moved them to 77 points, seven ahead of second-placed Atalanta who battered Brescia 6-2 on Tusdany night.

Elsewhere, Lazio's battle for the title seem to have died down as they were forced to 0-0 draw against Udinese.

It could have gotten worse for the visitors and they had Thomas Strakosha and the post to thank as the hosts almost won it at the death.

AC Milan produced another comeback as they beat Parma 3-1 to preserve their unbeaten run since the restart.

The hosts went down 1-0 in the first half to a Jasmin Kurtic goal on the stroke of halftime, but Franc Kessie scored a stunner after the break before Alessio Romagnoli and Hakan Calhanoglu struck to make it five wins and two draws in seven games.

Roma picked another important win at home to Verona in a match that had a number of controversial decisions.

Jordan Veretout converted a 10th-minute spot-kick to give Roma the lead before Edin Dzeko scored his 16th of the season.

Fiorentina all but confirmed their safety with a convincing 3-1 win away to Lecce.
