Zinedine Zidane explains why Gareth Bale was axed from Real Madrid squad

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane on Sunday explained that Gareth Bale's absence from the team was due to  "technical decision."

Bale was once again left out as Madrid drew 2-2 at Leganes in their final La Liga match, having wrapped up the title on Thursday.

The Welsh star appears set to leave Madrid in summer with his attitude towards Zidane and his team increasingly under scrutiny. He has played only two matches since football resumed last month.

Another wantaway James Rodriguez was also left out, with Zidane saying that it was due to personal reasons. Zidane spoke about the duo after the Sunday night clash.

"You know what happened with one [James]. The other is a technical decision," the Madrid coach said, via AS.

Madrid now shift their focus on a crucial Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester City at Etihad. Madrid trail having lost the first leg 2-1 in Spain.

Zidane says his players will be allowed some time to relax, but is adamant the next few weeks will not be a holiday.
