Sarri defends Juve, says the players are tired

Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri says physical and mental tiredness has caught up with his side following a shock 2-1 loss to Udinese on Thursday night.

The Old Lady could have lifted the Scudetto with a win away to the 15th placed side but came short as they conceded right on stoppage time to lose despite leading at halftime.

They seemed on course to victory after Matthijs de Ligt gave them the lead just before half-time, but the hosts turned it around in the second period.

First, Ilija Nestorovski pulled them level seven minutes into the second half, before Seko Fofana scored a 92nd-minute winner.

"In this period, we are physically and mentally tired, and it is a problem common to all," Sarri said following the defeat.

"For this reason, being aggressive is something more tiring and, therefore, now what matters most is order, because the inertia of a game changes very easily.

"It is difficult to keep it throughout the match and sometimes, like today, we lose it."

Juve though are not in danger of losing the title and could get the job done at home on Sunday when they host Sampdoria.

The loss meant the gap between them and second-placed Atalanta remained at six points with three matches to go.
