Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz has COVID-19, but UEFA insists that this will not affect the upcoming Champions League clash between the Spanish giants and Manchester City.
The match is set to be played on August 7 at the Etihad Stadium with no fans due to COVID-19 regulations and with one player returning a positive test, many were asking if the tie will still be played.
“UEFA is in contact with the club and monitoring both the situation and decisions of the relevant Spanish authorities,” UEFA said in a statement to British media.
“We are confident that this case will not affect the regular staging of the match in question.”
Real trail Manchester City 2-1 from the first leg of their last-16 tie before the competition was suspended in March.
