Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea: The Gunners win their 14th FA Cup, qualify for Europa League

Arsenal have won their 14th FA Cup following a 2-1 win over 10-man Chelsea in a match staged at Wembley Stadium.

Christian Pulišić put Chelsea ahead in the fifth minute but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored from the spot to level the scores before he netted the second to hand the Gunners the trophy. Chelsea finished the game with ten men after Matteo Kovacic was shown the second yellow card.

The victory means Mikel Arteta's men have now won a record 14 FA Cups, two more than Manchester United. The Gunners have won all three of their finals with Chelsea.

Chelsea had a brilliant start to the game and Arsenal were put to the sword inside five minutes of play. Pulisic combined with Mount before a cute backheel from Giroud back to Pulisic allowed the American to dink the ball over the onrushing Martinez. Simple as that and Chelsea had the lead.

Disallowed goal

Nicolas Pepe found the net but the flag had been up for an awfully long time. None of the Chelsea defenders stopped but it was the right call against Lacazette in the build-up.

Penalty

Tierney's long ball over the top caught Azpilicueta out as Aubameyang was brought down. Anthony Taylor showed the Chelsea captain a yellow card, but there was a VAR check to confirm if it was inside the box. The penalty was given and Aubameyang stepped up to take it. The Arsenal captain made a run around the ball, steadied himself and sent Willy Caballero the wrong way. That was Aubameyang's 28th goal of the season.

Aubameyang brace

Aubameyang grabbed his brace with a style and Arsenal took the lead. Bellerin brought the ball forward, Christensen made the tackle but the ball broke through to Pepe on the right-hand side of the penalty area. He looked up and saw Aubameyang in space on the left. This time, he is found, turned Kurt Zouma inside-out before dinking the ball over Willy Caballero.

Kovacic red card

There was not much in this and there's a surreal feel to it as for a second Anthony Taylor had forgotten he'd booked Mateo Kovacic.  At first, it looked like he'd given a booking to Xhaka for diving but indeed the Chelsea man is belatedly shown his second yellow and then a red. There was very little in that and it certainly looked harsh.
