Serie A Roundup: Ashley Young scores as Inter Milan cement second spot

Former Manchester United captain Ashley Young was among the goals as Inter Milan recorded a 2-0 win over Atalanta to seal the second spot in the Italian Serie A.

Inter took the lead through Danilo D'Ambrosio in the first minute with Young doubling their lead after 20 minutes with a stunning curling shot.

The win that ended Atalanta's 17-match unbeaten run going back to January 20 saw Inter finish just one point behind Juventus the after winning the three-team race for the second spot.

Atlanta, who meet Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals, finish in third place for their second consecutive season.

In other games, Juventus crashed to their second consecutive defeat as the Serie A champions finished their season with a 3-1 home loss against Roma on Saturday.

After threatening to field their U23 side in the game, manager Sarri rested some of his big guns including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite fielding a different side, Argentine Gonzalo Higuain gave them the lead after finishing off an Adrien Rabiot cross after just six minutes in the Allianz Stadium.

Diego Perotti inspired a Roma fightback setting up Nikola Kalinic to nod in the equaliser after 23 minutes.

Perotti then gave Roma the lead from the penalty spot before the break and six minutes into the second half connected with a Nicolo Zaniolo cross for his second of the night as Juventus fell to their third defeat in four matches.
