France international Lucas Hernandez's future at Bayern Munich remains uncertain ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The Bundesliga champions are expected to make additional changes to their defence as they look to sign one more right-back to boost Benjamin Pavard.
Pavard arrived from VfB Stuttgart at the same time with Hernandez who was coming from Atletico Madrid, however, Pavard has found his footing in the squad while Hernandez has struggled to make an impact in his first season.
According to Kicker, Hernandez remains in doubt under manager Hansi Flick following the top form of other defenders with Jerome Boateng and David Alaba becoming the first-choice defence duo and Niklas Sule who recently made a full recovery for a knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for some time.
A new right-back could potentially see Pavard being moved back to his position as centre-back after being deployed as a right-back which he is suited to play nonetheless.
Hernandez had been linked with a move away from the club this summer following Paris Saint-Germain expressing their interest but Bayern downplayed the links, insisting that he still has a place in the squad.
The 24-year-old who came through the ranks of Atletico Madrid may need to fight for his place in Flick's squad next season and potentially prove why he belongs in the Bundesliga.
Hernandez registered one assist in 24 appearances across all competitions last season.
