Manchester United will rival Chelsea for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen youngster Kai Havertz if Jadon Sancho chase falters
The Men via The Mirror reports that even though Havertz appears to be closing in a move to the Bridge, United and Liverpool remain admirers and will look at the other targets before deciding to make a move.
United is targeting a summer move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho but the Bundesliga club is playing hardball something that has not gone well with the United negotiators.
Dortmund had given United a deadline of August 10 to complete the deal but the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer men refused to do so with the player being a part of the Dortmund squad that flew to Switzerland to participate in the pre-season training.
Leverkusen will demand £90m for Havertz and with Chelsea already bringing two attackers into the team, the concentration of head coach Frank Lampard is in defence and will only go for the German youngster if the Bundesliga club can lower his fee since they believe they are the club the player wants to join.
With Leverkusen crashing out of the Europa League, the onus is now on the Blues to get the deal done but now faces competition from its Premier League rivals.
