Julen Lopetegui hailed Sevilla after the LaLiga club won the Europa League for a record sixth time following a 3-2 victory over Inter Milan on Friday evening.
Milan took the lead through Romelu Lukaku who scored from the spot in the fifth minute. It was first half full of goals as Luuk de Jong netted twice to hand Sevilla the lead for the first time in the game. The lead lasted for two minutes as Diego Godín grabbed the leveler to force the match to go on a 2-2 draw in the first half.
In the second half, things turned ugly for Italian club as Romelu Lukaku, who missed a great chance of restoring Inter's lead, ended up putting the ball into his own net.
That marked the first trophy in the managerial career of Lopetegui, whose side are unbeaten since February, a run of 21 games.
"This is a magnificent club. I hope all the fans can celebrate it but with caution," he said after the game.
"This squad is great. They believe in it, what they work on, and what they transmit. Even if we hadn't won I'd still love these guys, but today we take home the prize. We always believed," he added.
