Aston Villa has begun their recruitment drive in earnest by agreeing a £14 million deal with Nottingham Forest to sign Matty Cash.
That's according to Daniel Taylor of the Athletic.
Cash won Forest's player of the season award in 2019-20 after being successful converted into an attacking right-back.
23-year-old Cash, who started out as a midfielder, had also attracted strong interest from Chris Wilder's Sheffield United and Scott Parker's Fulham. Even AC Milan were rumoured to have presented a £15m deal over five instalments.
Villa has had to be persistent in their attempts to finally secure the Nottingham Forest player with incremental bids, the fourth of which has finally been agreed and could rise to £16m, with Forest not budging on their valuation of a player they didn't want to see leaving cheaply.
Villa's Premier League season commences later than the majority of the other clubs, with their campaign kicking off at Villa Park against Sheffield United on September 20th.
