English Premier League side Wolver Hampton Wanderers are interested in acquiring the services of defender Stefan Savic from Atletico Madrid.
It has been reported by 90Min that Wolves manager Nuno wants to sign a new central defender to compete with Conor Coady, Romain Saiss and Willy Boly.
The player is a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes who had significant involvement with Wolves’ rise from the Championship into the top half of the Premier League, including Nuno’s own recruitment in 2017; the club hoping that their close association with the Portuguese will help them with the player.
Savic has been one of the most important players at Atleti since joining the club in 2015 with the 29-year-old helping the Diego Simeone side to the final of the Champions League in 2016 and this before winning the Europa League in 2018.
Savic won’t be new in the Premier League having been in the books of Man City back in season 2011/12. During that campaign, the Montenegro International won the Premier League title but played just 543 minutes in the league.
He had a stint with Fiorentina too in the Serie A and Nuno believes that his experience will be key for the team as they seek to better their last season’s performances.
