English Premier League side Manchester United are willing to wait for another year to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
The 21-year-old had been a target for many clubs in Europe in the summer but his new deal with his side has scared off a lot of teams with United being among the teams willing to wait to have him in the next summer.
The Daily Mail reports that the defender’s new three-year deal has a release clause which allows him to leave Leipzig in 2021 if his £38million asking price is met. United are now prepared to activate that clause with Upamecano topping their list of defensive targets.
The English giants have given up on landing the player this coming summer following their interest in the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish which is set to use a large chunk of money in their transfer kitty.
The current transfer window has been extended to October and some reports indicate that some teams might be tempted to go for the defender if they find the money at the right time.
