Our betting team has the main takeaways and observations from the opening weekend of the Premier League and some betting pointers that could be useful looking ahead to round 2.
❇️ James sparkles on debut
James Rodríguez is the first Premier League debutant to create at least five chances since Alexis Sánchez for Arsenal in August 2014. He impressed on debut, while Lucas Digne getting his 12th assist since the start of 2018-19, the third-most of any defender. Everton's next opponents are West Brom, who allowed Leicester 13 shots on their goal in a 0-3 defeat at home. Everton looks good to get a home win over the promoted Baggies on Saturday.

🤨 Liverpool & Leeds leaky at the back
The champions scored four times and none of those goals came from open-play, which will frustrate Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa. Leeds conceded just five goals in their final 13 Championship games but the step-up to the Premier League is a steep one. Their next encounter is against Fulham where they'll be expected to win, but going forward, the concession of multiple goals each weekend won't cut it. Then again they won't be playing Liverpool every weekend.
As for the Reds, an end-to-end encounter away to Chelsea next weekend is almost guaranteed. Liverpool has kept just three clean sheets in their last 17 competitive matches, with 27 conceded in that sequence.
🇧🇷 Willian finds his groove quickly
32-year-old Brazilian Willian enjoyed seven years at Chelsea and he's slotted right into Mikel Arteta's Arsenal. He played 76 minutes on debut, providing two assists and also was heavily involved in the opener. Arsenal hosts West Ham next weekend and it's hard to see Willian losing his place. West Ham's next six fixtures aren't kind; Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester, Tottenham, Man City, and Liverpool, and they lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle on opening day.

🏰 Same old Palace
27 of Palace's 38 league matches in 2019-20 went under the 2.5 goals mark. Their next assignment is a trip to Old Trafford to face Man United who plays their first game of the season. United's goals dried up at the end of last term - they failed to score more than twice in any of their final eight fixtures.
