Barcelona sporting director Ramon Planes has revealed that the club is interested in signing Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.
"It's true that we are looking for someone to help us in defense," Planes said during a presentation for new arrival Miralem Pjanic. "Eric Garcia is a great player, made in Barcelona, who loves the club, but whether or not he can join depends on the market.
"The club's idea is to build a young side alongside players who have given a lot to the club. Eric has that profile."
The 19-year-old has his current deal at the Etihad Stadium expiring in 2021, but he has refused offers of a contract extension.
Garcia has made 23 appearances in total for Pep Guardiola's side, including 13 in the most recent Premier League campaign, but Barca will reportedly have to offload Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo before they can attempt to sign the City man during the transfer window.
