New Chelsea star Kai Havertz is confident that his club can topple Liverpool when both sides meet in week two of the Premier League on Sunday.
Both teams won their opening match with Chelsea seeing off Brighton & Hove Albion when Liverpool defeated Leeds and while admitting that it would be a tough duel, Haverts said that they have a chance of picking up the three points.
"Of course they (Liverpool) are one of the best teams in the world. We show respect but we are a very great team as well.
"It will be a very hard game but for them also. We will work hard and I think we will have a chance to take points," the German told the Evening Standard.
Haverts was one of the new faces in the Chelsea team that started the game against Brighton with Timo Werner being the other; both players expected to maintain their places in the weekend tie.
On his debut, Haverts said: “It was a very tough game, very difficult because I had long holidays and I came back and trained for five or six days with the team. More important is that we won so I am very happy to make my debut.
“The Premier League is much tougher than the Bundesliga. I have seen that in training and saw it in the game as well. But I am happy to play 80 minutes and hopefully next week I will continue.”
The club has already signed seven players this window but is expected to add another face in goalkeeper Mendy from Rennes before the closure of the window.
