Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero is yet to join his teammates at Manchester United at their Carrington training base ahead of their season opener against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Romero’s future at United has been in doubt after the club welcomed back Dean Henderson from his loan at Sheffield United and according to reports, the keeper is looking for another team before the closure of the current window.
Unitedreport indicates that Romero remains the only player yet to report to duty with every other player having been with the team for the past week.
The 33-year-old has reliably and consistently performed in the back-up role over the past 5 years, but his future with the club is slowly coming to an end. The player had been linked with a move to Aston Villa but the Dean Smith side is believed to have agreed on a fee with Arsenal keeper Emi Martinez.
Apart from Villa, Everton has been linked with the keeper but the Toffees are only on the look-out for a free agent in this department but Roero still has a running contract with United with his current deal set to expire in the coming summer.
An intriguing battle between Henderson and De Gea is expected this season with the club also boasting of an upcoming star in Matěj Kovář.
