Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has confirmed that his side is interested in acquiring the services of Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun.
The teenage striker is expected to cost United a sum of £3 million, plus add-ons with the player on the final year of his Arsenal contract this as reported by The Daily Mail. Mail reports that’s the Gunners want a structured deal worth around £15m, a response which ‘stunned’ the Blades.
But speaking to the BBC, Wilder said of Balogun: “Yeah, we made an enquiry, regarding the young man at Arsenal. And that’s left with the CEO at Arsenal Football Club (Vinai Venkatesham).”
Balogun is yet to make a professional debut for Arsenal but Wilder has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his side’s attacking options and is being strongly linked with another young English prospect in Rhian Brewster of Liverpool.
So far, United have roped in six new faces in the team and started the season with a 2-0 loss at the hands of Wolves.
