Thiago Alcantara is set to wear shirt number 6 jersey at Liverpool once he completes his impending move.
The Spaniard has long been linked with a move to the Premier League champions, and the deal, worth around £27million, now looks all but done.
The 29-year-old currently wears six for the Bundesliga club, one that is available at the Merseyside club following the departure of Dejan Lovren to join Zenit St Petersburg this summer.
Speaking on Thursday, Bayern Munich coach all but confirmed the former Barcelona man's exit, revealing he said his goodbyes to the rest of the team.
"Thiago is an exceptional player who spent seven hugely successful years here," Flick said.
"He's a wonderful person and an outstanding professional. It was very emotional today when he said goodbye to us all."
The deal was initially hinged on Georginio Wijnaldum, or any other midfielder leaving, in order to create some room in the middle of the park.
This however changed and the Reds decided to do the deal whether or not someone left as he, Thiago, presented an opportunity they could not pass.
It is however highly unlikely he will make the team when Liverpool travel to face Chelsea on Sunday evening in their second Premier League fixture.
