Defender Alex Telles will push to leave Portuguese giants Porto this window after Manchester United made contact with his club.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Telles is set to push for a departure from the Estadio do Dragao with the 27-year-old said to be keen for a move to Old Trafford.
Romano further stated that United are expected to make an official bid for the player in the coming days with Porto expected to demand a fee in the region £17m as the player’s contract expires in the coming summer.
The Primeira Liga outfit would rather sell now than lose him for nothing the following year and with United keen to sign a left-back to provide cover for injury-prone Luke Shaw, Telles might be the other new face to arrive in the club this summer.
The interest in Telles comes a day after United snubbed the chance to sign Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid; the player instead joining Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
It had emerged this week that United was in contact with Telles agent, Pini Zahavi, over a five-year contract and with the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side having gone down in their first game of the season against Palace, more talks are expected to continue in the coming days as they seek to add new faces in the team.
Manchester United priority: left back and right winger. Possible also a CB. Tonight #MUFC have been in contact again with Alex Telles agents. He will push to leave Porto on next few days. Man Utd are monitoring and considering an opening bid. There’s also another option as LB. 🔴 https://t.co/PYVtS8GKbR— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 20, 2020
