The Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady has emerged as an injury doubt ahead of next month's Euro qualifier against Slovakia.
The Ireland boss has always been proud to have the Burnley midfielder but feels he will struggle to keep up on the international stage.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche confirmed the injury and insisted that it has been a tough journey for the midfielder as he is more on the sidelines than on the pitch.
"With Robbie, we think it's bruised ribs and they can be sore," Dyche said.
"He's been carrying it since being away with the national side, and unfortunately got a bang on it again so we made that decision early.
"It's a shame for him because he's had a tough one with injuries, so we'll see how that settles down, but it's another challenge."
The 28-year-old has been capped 48 times for Ireland since his debut in 2012 while scoring eight goals in the process.
