Carabao Cup Roundup: Liverpool batter Lincoln to set fourth-round date with Arsenal; Aston Villa & Man City win

Liverpool will face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup fourth round, after a comfortable 7-2 win over Lincoln in the third round on Thursday night.

The Reds cruised to a 4-0 lead at half-time, before adding three more in the second half in a totally dominant performance.

Xherdan Shaqiri gave the visitors the lead after just nine minutes, before Takumi Minamino doubled the lead on the 18th minute.

Curtis Jones then scored a five-minute brace to give Jurgen Klopp's side a huge advantage going into the break.

Takumi Minamino then completed his brace a minute after the restart, Liverpool's fifth, before Tayo Edun pulled one back for the hosts on the 61st minute.

Marko Grujic restored Liverpool's five-goal lead with a sixth almost immediately but the Reds were breached once again as Lewis Montsma scored Lincoln's second.

Divock Origi then added a seventh on the 90th minute, with their progression meaning they will host Arsenal in the next round.

Man City leave it late

Elsewhere, Manchester City struggled for long periods at home against Bournemouth before eventually winning 2-1 against the spirited Cherries.

17-year-old Liam Delap opened the scores for the former Premier League Champions after 18 minutes on his debut.

Sam Surridge, however, pulled the visitors level four minutes later, following a Dan Gosling through-ball.

Phil Foden scored the winner with 20 minutes to go, and they held on for the victory.

Aston Villa dazzle

In the earlier match, Bertrand Traore enjoyed a debut to remember as he helped Aston Villa to a 3-0 win over Bristol City to book a place in the next round. T

The former Chelsea striker scored on his debut as he coolly sent a sublime side-footed volley for Villa's second, moments after Anwar El Ghazi had swept them into an 11th-minute lead from close range.

Substitute Ollie Watkins added a third in the 73rd minute, shortly after his introduction, to cap a hugely satisfying night.

The Villans will now face-face Stoke City in the next round of the competition.
