Gonzalo Higuain had a debut to forget as he missed a penalty in his MLS bow with Inter Miami.
Miami went down 3-0 to Philadelphia Union on Sunday at Subaru Park with the game being Higuain’s first following his arrival from Juventus.
The former Real Madrid forward almost made a dream start to his career in the United States, hitting the outside of the post with a bicycle kick in the 20th minute.
Philadelphia had taken a 2-0 lead but Higuain had an opportunity to reduce the arrears for his side in the 77th minute from the penalty spot but he blazed the effort over the crossbar and reacted angrily after Union players celebrated his miss.
The miss means that the Argentine has failed to convert his last four penalties in all competitions.
Anthony Fontana, Ilsinho and Brenden Aaronson scored the goals in the game with the loss leaving Miami second bottom in the Eastern Conference.
