πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬πŸ€ The Nigerian connection: William Troost-Ekong on how Odion Ighalo helped him decide on Watford move

Nigeria international William Troost-Ekong has revealed that Odion Ighalo was the inspiration behind his move to Watford this summer, Goal reported.

Troost-Ekong agreed to a five-year deal which will expire in the summer of 2025; the move comes after bidding farewell to Serie A side Udinese where he spent two seasons.

Watford already has two Nigerian stars in the form of Isaac Success and Tom Dele-Bashiru and it becomes a fitting reunion for players.

The 27-year-old paid homage to fellow compatriot Odion Ighalo who joined Watford in the summer of 2014 until his departure to Chinese side Changchun Yatai in 2017.

“Ighalo used to be my roommate. I spoke to Odion last week. He only had good things to say about the club," he told the club's official website.

"He’s a great guy, a fantastic player and like a big brother for me."

The Dutch-Nigerian defender is set to make his Watford bow when the Hornets take on Reading at the weekend.
