Chelsea 3-3 Southampton: Vestergaard steals a point for the Saints, Werner gets his first PL brace

Chelsea surely have a lot to do when it comes to defending, and this 3-3 draw against Southampton at the Bridge has proved that.

The game might have been won by Timo Werner's brilliance in setting up Kai Havertz, but the stubborn Saints made sure they had the last laugh.

Here's a brief report on the action:

Goals:

Timo Werner (1-0 15')

Chilwell gave Werner the ball from deep, with Bednarek on his back, but he dummies and turned the defender brilliantly.

He had so much to do still, got in the box, danced past a couple of challenges before shooting for the bottom left corner through a crowd, and scoring!

Timo Werner (2-0 29')

It was a brilliant second goal for the German. He was released very early by Jorginho, with a long ball over the top, and Werner got goal side of Bednarek and in the box.

He did brilliantly to lift the ball over McCarthy, and finished it off with a header into the empty net!

Danny Ings (2-1 43')

Havertz lost the ball deep inside his own half as Saints players surrounded him.

Adams took over, slipped in Ings through on goal as Chelsea played high, and Ings rounded Kepa and slotted into the empty net!

Che Adams (2-2 57')

Kurt Zouma's poor back pass put Kepa in trouble, but as he rushed out to get there ahead of Ings, he completely misses the ball!

Ings was at an angle, Christensen did his best to block on the line, but Adams then took over and slammed into the roof of the net!

Kai Havertz (3-2 59')

Chelsea immediately went up the other end, and again Werner got space on the right of the box. He spotted Havertz running far post, finding him with a lovely square ball, and Havertz turned into the goal from close range!

That was his first Premier League goal, too!

Jannik Vestergaard ( 3-3 90+2')

Southampton struck back at the death to surely snatch a point!

Chelsea paid the price for Zouma's rash foul out on the left. Bertrand's whipped delivery was cleared as far as Walcott on the edge of the box and he volleyed a shot towards goal that Jannik Vestergaard glanced into the bottom corner.
