Disappointed Havertz acknowledges mistake against Southampton, sends rallying call to teammates

Kai Havertz has called on his Chelsea teammate to stick together and aim at turning around a poor run in the Premier League.

The Blues twice lost the lead on Saturday as they were forced to a high-scoring 3-3 draw at home against Southampton, their second similar draw of the new season.

Havertz opened his Premier League account with the Blues' third goal, but he was at fault for the Saints' opener after he was caught in possession just outside the box, allowing Danny Ings to pull one back just before the break.

Speaking after the match, the German acknowledged his error but was positive they have a squad that can turn the results around.

"We’re very frustrated about the result," he said.

"We had 42 good minutes in the first half but then I made a mistake and we conceded a goal, which changed the game a little bit.

"We got it to 3-2 and then we have to take the result and get the win at home but we didn’t do it. Now we have to stick together and hopefully, we can do better next time,"

He further urged his  teammates to take  responsibility;

"We have to take responsibility for that," the midfielder continued. "We have 11 players on the pitch and everybody has to work hard so we don’t concede goals like this,"

Chelsea will now turn their attention to Tuesday night's  Champions League clash against  Europa League winners Sevilla.
