Champions League roundup: Ten-man Barcelona smash Ferencvárosi, Chelsea held by Sevilla

The 2020/21 Champions League season officially kicked-off on Tuesday with a number of matches being played across different venues. 

Barcelona 5-1 Ferencvárosi

Barcelona run riot, beating Ferencvárosi 5-1 despite being one man down.  Lionel Messi handed the Catalans the lead from the spot-kick before Ansu Fati made it 2-0.

In the second half,  Philippe Coutinho grabbed the third to ensure the Spanish giants are controlling the match. However, in the 68th minute, Gerard Piqué was sent off for a  professional foul last man and the visitors pulled one back from the penalty kick through Ihor Kharatin. 

Pedri and Ousmane Dembele ensure Barcelona secure a huge victory by a huge margin to go top of Group G. 

Dynamo Kyiv 0-2 Juventus 

Earlier, the first game of Group G saw Juventus register a 2-0 victory away to Kyiv. Alvaro Morata scored in both halves to ensure Juve return to Turin with maximum points.

Chelsea 0-0 Sevilla 

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea started their campaign with a barren draw against Sevilla. In the same Group E, Stade Rennais and FC Krasnodar settled for a 1-1 draw.

Paris Saint-Germain 1-2 Manchester United 

At the Parc des Princes, PSG suffered a 2-1 loss to Man United, the second defeat in a span of 18 months to the same opponent in the Champions League. Surprisingly, the French Ligue 1 side failed to score as all the three goals were scored by United players. Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot before Anthony Martial put the ball into his own net with Marcus Rashford netting the winner.

In the other match of Group H, RB Leipzig registered a 2-0 victory over Başakşehir F.K thanks to Angeliño's brace.

Group F 

This group was full of surprise as the underdogs emerged as the winners.  Borussia Dortmund, playing away at Stadio Olimpico suffered a 3-1 defeat to Lazio. Elsewhere, Zenit Petersburg were shocked at home as they suffered a 2-1 loss to visiting Club Brugge.
