Rapid Vienna 1-2 Arsenal: Sluggish but clinical, Aubameyang seals victory for the Gunners

Arsenal came from a goal down to register a 2-1 victory over Rapid Vienna in their Group B Europa League opener.

Arsenal had a slow start to their away game against Vienna and found themselves trailing at the start of the second half with Fountas handing the hosts the lead. The Gunners needed only four minutes to make a complete comeback thanks to goals from David Luiz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Vienna took the lead in the 51st minute through Fountas who scored following Arsenal's awful defending. He went short to Luiz on the byline, back to the Arsenal goalkeeper, who hit the onrushing Kara with a hurried attempt at another return. That teased up Fountas nicely to squeeze the loose ball between the goalkeeper and the near post.

Arsenal chased for an equalizer and finally drew level after some attempts in the 70th minute through David Luiz. Pepe delivered an excellent free-kick from the right channel and the ball met Luiz, who rose highest from six yards to head into the far corner past Strebinger.

Two minutes later, substitutes Hector Bellerin and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang combined to completed a rapid turnaround just for minutes after pulling level.

Elneny's lovely ball to Bellerin, who had just timed his run to stay onside, put the defender away in the box where he just has to pick out the right pass for Aubemayang. It was inch-perfect and the captain slotted into the empty net to put Arsenal ahead for the first time on the night.
