Gimnasia de La Plata Diego Maradona has undergone successful surgery on his brain according to his public relations team.
Maradona was admitted to hospital on Monday in Argentina with a subdural hematoma, his personal doctor Leopoldo Luque revealed to reporters. A statement from the PR handles revealed the operation was a success and went as expected.
Following the Argentine's admission to hospital on Monday, his personal physician said, it was not an emergency situation.
"I didn't see him as I would like to see him," he said as quoted by Argentinian television's ESPN F90.
"We need to be calm. This is not an emergency situation. Diego is well, but he could be better. You see some situations that make you believe that it is good to come to a clinic, to hydrate, draw blood."
"Let's see how many days. Let's see how much can be done. My idea is to have at least three days for him to hydrate well. It's looking at what's best for him. There is no emergency."
The 60-year-old was admitted to hospital last year in January with internal bleeding in the stomach.
