The Kenyan Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) will Kick off on November 27, 2020, and not on November 20th as earlier scheduled.
The move was confirmed by the league body on Tuesday after reports emerged that both the federation (FKF) and the clubs making the league had not agreed on the criteria that will be used in leading the league.
In a Tweet, FKFPL noted: “The league kicks off on Friday 27th November.”
The reports indicate that the federation is keen to fully run the league through a committee appointed by its National Executive Council (NEC) and not through an independent legal entity managed by clubs as suggested before; a move that the clubs are against.
The new season will have Bidco United, Nairobi City Stars and Vihiga United with the latter earning their position in the league via a playoff that involved Kisumu All-Stars.
In the concluded season, FKF had named Gor Mahia as the league champions with the team set to meet APR of Rwanda in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League this month; a move that might see them miss their opener against Tusker FC.
