Thomas Tuchel slams PGS players after Monaco loss

Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel has hit out at his players after they threw away a 2-0 lead in their defeat to Monaco.

Kylian Mbappe scored two goals in the first half to give PSG a comfortable lead after 45 minutes of play. However, Monaco came in the second half determined as Kevin Volland secured grabbed a brace for the hosts before Cesc Fabregas netted the winner from the spot as Abdou Diallo saw a red for a professional foul.

Tuchel described PSG's second-half display as 'catastrophic' but accepts the criticism on himself.

"Catastrophic? Yes, the second half. We controlled the game, we scored two goals, and we could have scored two more. The third was onside. We had opportunities," he told Telefoot in his post-match interview.

"In the second half, we didn't have the same concentration. We weren't serious enough. We didn't recover the ball with the same quality, and we didn't seriously defend. We are completely responsible for this defeat, when the match was almost over in our favour."

"They (the players) felt it was 3-0 or 4-0 when it was only 2-0. I have no explanation. I have to accept all the criticism, because we have completely stopped playing, and we haven't done what is necessary to win."

The loss was third PSG's defeat this season in the Ligue 1 but are still at the top of the table with 24 points four above second-placed AS Monaco.
