Chelsea are now occupying the top of the Premier League table after securing a comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies goalkeeper Karl Darlow was put in a few challenging positions but managed to make some decent saves early on the game but all his work was undone when Fernandez went in for Mason Mount's ball after Ben Chilwell had continued to apply pressure.
The visitors still managed to control the game with Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner trying their respective luck at goal but both sides went into halftime with the Blues leading through the own goal.
Werner had a solid chance to make it two goals for Chelsea after 53 minutes but it wasn't enough and Darlow managed to clear the danger.
However, Werner was able to redeem himself when he provided the assist for Abraham's goal in the 65th minute and it was enough to register three points away from home.
Chelsea are now nine games unbeaten with five successive wins in a row.
