Rangers defender Nikola Katic set for injury return in January

Scottish Premiership side Rangers have been given an injury with reports claiming that Croatia international Nikola Katic is set to make his return to the squad.

According to The Daily Record, Katic's agent Ives Cakarun confirmed that the 24-year-old is doing well in his recovery and could be set for a January return.

“All is going well. We hope Nikola will be ready for January. It was a big operation, cruciate ligaments and both meniscus," the agent confirmed.

Katic was on top form during his preseason only to suffer a setback before the new season kicked off but it is believed that his age is a catalyst in his quick recovery and how he will manage to come back to full-scale training.

The Croatian's injury eventually led to Rangers retaining the services of Nigeria international Leon Balogun from League One side Wigan Athletic as his replacement.

Balogun however is proving to be quite signing with his impressive displays so it remains to be seen if his stay will be extended even if Katic returns.
