Kakamega Homeboyz secured a 1-0 victory over the newly-promoted side Vihiga United in a Kenyan Football Kenya Federation Premier League game staged at Mumias Sports Complex.
Odhiambo David scored the only goal in the second half to hand Homeboyz all the three points away from home. Vihiga were forced to finish the match with ten men after Henry Juma was given his match orders in the 69th minute of play.
It was a nice start for Vihiga with Adeyefa getting a clear chance in the early exchanges but he failed to capitalize as his effort went wide. In response, Homeboys got a free just outside the penalty zone, Odhiambo stepped up to take it but he blasted wide.
In the second half, Homeboyz took the lead in the Ingo Derby, beating Bataro to give the visitors control over Vihiga. The hosts continued to search for an equalizer, but with 29 minutes remaining, things went worse after Juma was sent off.
Homeboyz held on to collect maximum points away from home and will be up against Mathare in their next KFKFPL game.
