Liverpool advanced to the knock out stages of the Champions League with a game to spare following a 1-0 victory over Ajax at Anfield on Tuesday evening.
It was a satisfying result for Liverpool given the huge contribution from the team's youngest players. Neco Williams set up Curtis Jones for the only goal of the game and Caoimhin Kelleher was impeccable in goal.
Ajax started the match without any fear but Liverpool were a bit organized at the back. The visitors worked out a corner, a deep ball found Schuurs at the back post but he could not direct a header on target.
In response, Salah wriggled free in the box, he set one back for Jones who caught the strike with great quality and Onana was left standing. The ball pinged back off the post and to safety.
In the 58th minute, Onana's howler gifted Liverpool the lead. Williams sent one in from a poor ball initially. Onana thought it was heading out for a goal and comically left it but Jones was alien to the situation and maned to reverse a clever finish from the near the by-line into the unguarded.
