Under fire Romanian match official Sebastian Coltescu was captured explaining his defence against the racism allegation during PSG vs Başakşehir in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
As reported here on Futaa on Tuesday, the Group H game was abandoned after 14 minutes when the Romanian fourth official was believed to have racially abused Başakşehir’s assistant coach Pierre Webo.
According to the reports, the match referee came over to the touchline near Başakşehir’s bench, where he needed to confirm who he was set to send off. The ref asked his assistant which technical member was guilty of offending the official, to which Coltescu said: “"Ala negru," which in Romanian can translate to "the black [guy].”
Coltescu was then heard explaining to say:
"Negru in Romanian means black. I am not a racist."
