English Premier League giants Manchester United have completed their first January signing after acquiring the services of midfielder Moises Caicedo.
The Ecuadorian was linked with United just the previous week United Report claiming that Caicedo’s agents, the English club and the players club-Independiente del Valle representatives, have reached an agreement for the player.
Reports in Ecuador claimed the 19-year-old midfielder was in ‘advanced talks’ with the Premier League giants earlier on Tuesday, with United outbidding Bundesliga outfit Red Bull Leipzig.
The player who is thought to be one of the best at his age becomes the latest club young signing as they seek to secure the future; United having signed the like of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo last summer.
Just as the duo, Caicedo is expected to feature for United junior sides as they seek to integrate him into the first team in the future.
If the deal goes through, he will be the second player from Ecuador to represent Manchester United after Antonio Valencia, who left in 2019 after a decade at Old Trafford.
Caicedo has been capped four times by his country and scored his first goal at international level in a 4-2 win over Uruguay in October and the deal is thought to have costed United around £5.5million plus add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause.
