Ahead of the EFL Cup semifinals, it's unlikely that either of the Manchester clubs will make wholesale changes.
In the past, the Carabao Cup has been used by managers of top sides as an opportunity to blood youngsters and fringe players, but the stakes are high in 2021 with the semifinal now being staged over one leg.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team is flying at the moment, having gone seven matches unbeaten since a 3-2 defeat at RB Leipzig on December 8th. They currently sit 2nd in the Premier League but need silverware to show for the solid progress they have made under a manager who has come in for criticism throughout his United tenure. United lost at the semifinal stage of cup competitions three times last season and will be desperate to go one better in 2021.
As for Pep Guardiola's visitors, they're unbeaten since November and arrive off the back of a resounding 3-1 success in the Premier League away to Chelsea. Guardiola will be tempted to retain Phil Foden after his man-of-the-match display, and there might also be the temptation to draft in the fit-again Sergio Aguero.
