Royal Antwerp's Lamkel Ze apologises after arriving in training in rivals' shirt

Royal Antwerp forward Didier Lamkel Ze has issued a compelling apology to the club's fans following a bizarre incident on Wednesday.

The Cameroonian was trying to force a move to Panathinaikos, and with his wishes not granted, he turned up at the club's training grounds with Anderlecht's shirt, one of Antwerp's fiercest rivals.

He then threatened to turn up again in a Beerschot shirt, another of Antwerp's rivals.

After realising his mistake, the 24-year-old issued an apology to the club, saying he was frustrated.

“I sincerely apologise to the club and the Antwerp supporters because they are magnificent and wonderful fans who have always supported me,” he said.

“If I reacted like that, it is because my head was elsewhere with the transfer, it wasn’t easy for me. I’m so sorry for my actions.

“I won’t forget how my teammates and the technical staff have supported me in the dressing room since my arrival here.

“I’m ready for the club if the new coach needs me. I hope to be in front of the supporters very soon on the pitch.”

The striker was keen on linking up with his former manager Laszlo Boloni, currently at Panathinaikos
