His father Paolo made 647 Serie A appearances in the famous black & red stripes and is widely regarded as one of the finest defenders in the history of the game.
Paolo's father Cesare also made a huge impression at San Siro, making 347 top-flight appearances for Milan between 1954 and 1966.
Daniel, unlike his father and late grandfather who were rock-solid defenders, is an attacking player. Still only 19, it's still unclear how far he will go in the game but the youngster is certainly in good hands at one of Italy's most iconic clubs, where Paolo currently serves as technical director.
The three-generation Maldini dynasty in Milan is a truly special and unique footballing occurrence, the likes of which we are unlikely to ever see again. It's 1000 Serie A appearances for the Maldini family representing the Rossoneri and counting.
