“Juventus Football Club announces that, during the checks provided for by the protocol in force, Matthijs De Ligt has emerged positive with Covid 19,” read a statement released via the club’s official website on Friday.
“The player has already been placed in solitary confinement.”
De Ligt becomes the third Juve player to test positive in a matter of days, following Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro earlier this week.
He will therefore miss this weekend’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo, and is also doubtful for the mid-week Coppa Italia meeting with Genoa and perhaps also next weekend’s trip to face Inter.
