Mathare United defenders Martin Ongori and Lennox Ogutu have extended their stay with the slum boys the club has confirmed.
The duo has been with the club since 2016 when they were promoted from Mathare's U20 side and according to head coach Salim Ali, they are players who understand the system of the club.
“I am pleased that we have managed to tie down the two players. They are players who understand the system we try to play here and having them back is a huge boost.
“We missed them in our game against Sofapaka where we played a new backline consisting entirely of players making their debuts. I have been hugely impressed with their growth, especially in the last two years where we have seen them come into their own to be first-team regulars,” Salim is quoted by the club's media team.
The two missed the club's opening day loss to Sofapaka FC and will hope that they can help their team make amends starting with their tie on Thursday 14, January 2020 against Gor Mahia.
✨| On Saturday as we kicked-off our season against Sofapaka, six players managed to make their debuts for the club. One of those was 18 year old fullback Norman Ogolla.
