English Premier League giants Liverpool are monitoring the progress of Portuguese international Renato Sanches with the aim of signing him in the summer.
Sanches had been linked with a move away from Lille this month but according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, that won't happen with Liverpool now keen on the player if he can show his worth in the next six months.
Liverpool is prioritizing a center back in the current winter window and will do anything to get one with their backline having suffered a dent following the long term injuries to With Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez with Joel Matip also out injured.
The Reds however could be without Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum whose failed to sign a new deal despite his contract ending in June and the club is already in the market for a replacement.
They see Snches as a perfect option in the position with The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp said to be a huge admirer of the Portuguese. French publication Le10sport claimed earlier this month that Liverpool sees the 23-year-old as the number one option to replace Wijnaldum and he is expected to leave the Ligue 1 outfit this summer.
Should he join Liverpool, Sanchez will hope that he can give a better performance than he had the last time he was in the Premier League with Swansea during a loan spell in the 2017-18 campaign.
