Mesut Ozil's move from Arsenal to Fenerbahce is 'closer than ever' says club's director Emre Belozoglu.
Ozil has been linked with a move away from Arsenal after falling down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta. The creative midfielder hasn't played for the Gunners since March and was omitted from the club's Premier League squad as well as Europa League.
The Germany international has been linked with a move to Turkey and now Emre admits he is close to signing for Fenerbahce.
"We had a meeting with him and his manager. Mesut is closer than ever," Emre told Turkish media before a Fenerbahce training session
"After the meeting process with Mesut’s club is over, we will hold meetings between ourselves. If Mesut agrees with his club on the terms we want, it won’t stretch our financial limits this year."
"Fenerbahce and other clubs no longer have the power to bring in footballers on €4-5 million contracts. There will be no numbers that would disturb the balance or affect the salaries of other players, we do not have that ability."
